  • Outpatient Programs

The Anxiety & OCD Clinic Melbourne has developed a series of innovative Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT) programs for the treatment of Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Hoarding and related disorders. These programs are:
    • Intensive - consists of scheduled 3-hour sessions. The individualised program could include de-cluttering, social anxiety or phobia treatment, or exposure and response prevention for OCD.
    • Group therapy where a number of participants are taught how to apply CBT strategies in their daily life.
    • Individual therapy sessions for up to 1 hour.

The Obsessive Compulsive Therapy Group is offered on the 3rd Wednesday of each month between 6.00-7.30pm. This group provides CBT-based support and follow-up for people who have had individual therapy for OCD. Emphasis will be given to explaining the OCD model and teaching practical strategies to better manage intrusive and unwanted thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

  • Research

Brief Clinical Outcome findings for the Intensive Outpatient Program 2012-2013. The Anxiety and OCD Clinic Melbourne team recently examined the effectiveness of the program in 28 patients by assessing the severity of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related symptoms before and after treatment. The findings showed a definite reduction in symptom severity, consistent with the outcomes of leading overseas outpatient clinics. For example, YBOCS average pre-treatment (24.5) and post treatment (15.1) data represent a significant outcome over a 30-hour protocol of exposure therapy. There were similar decreases in depression, stress, and avoidance. Other positive improvements occurred in the management of intrusive thoughts-decrease in frequency and need to suppress, as well as better emotional regulation. This brief clinical outcome study provides strong preliminary evidence that the program is an effective treatment for OCD. The study of the long term effects of the program will be continuous as The Anxiety and OCD Clinic Melbourne collaborates with RMIT University in evaluating the treatment protocol.
  • Hoarding Treatment

The Anxiety & OCD Clinic Melbourne will continue to offer its specialised De-Clutter and Therapy support team to assist in dealing with difficult hoarding and squalor presentations. This treatment initiative is proving an effective intervention for those clients with complex presentations.
  • Hoarding Therapy Group

The Hoarding Therapy Group is held at Suite 6, 140 Church St, Richmond on the 3rd Thursday of the month.
